World Teachers Development Day

We are very pleased to invite you to Leiden University's first World Teachers Development Day for in-service teachers.

The focus of the day will be topics related to linguistically and culturally-aware teaching in bilingual and international education contexts. The progamme will include keynotes, sub-plenaries, workshops and panel discussions focusing on the four domains of the World Teacher Competences: 

  1. Supporting subject literacy;
  2. Communicating effectively across languages and cultures;
  3. Embracing diversity;
  4. Readiness to question and be questioned.

There will also be opportunities to become acquainted with ICLON research and student teachers’ practice in areas relevant to teaching in diverse, multilingual and internationally-oriented contexts.

Full programme and workshop descriptions

  • Teachers and teacher educators from WTP network schools;
  • Teachers from bilingual (tto), international or global citizen network schools;
  • (WTP) student teachers:
  • WTP alumni;
  • And any teachers and teacher educators interested in the roles of language and culture in education.

Working language

The main language used during the event will be English. Some workshops can be offered in Dutch or a combination of Dutch and English, depending on the preference of participants.
