Diversity Office and Diversity Team
Who are the people developing and implementing the university's diversity policy?
In 2014, Leiden University was the first university in the Netherlands to appoint a Diversity Officer. Dr Aya Ezawa, the current holder of this position, is responsible for initiating and coordinating the activities that drive our diversity policy across five different areas: students, staff, teaching, research and representation. She works closely with other universities, both national and international, that share this same ambition.
The Diversity Team is made up of the members of the Diversity Office and a broad group of individuals from different areas of the university: staff from Academic Affairs, the Administration Directorate and Student and Educational Affairs. They put the principles of our diversity policy for students and staff into practice within the scope of their daily work.
In addition to this, there is also intensive cooperation with diversity coordinators who implement the university's diversity policies within the faculties and the Leiden University Graduate School of Teaching (ICLON).
