Collaboration

Leiden University wants its research and teaching to have a positive impact on society. In an effort to achieve this, many of our researchers collaborate with academic and community partners, non-governmental organisations and the business sector.

The teaching and research that the Leiden University and the Leiden University Medical Center excel in is arranged into five clusters:

  • Fundamentals of Science
  • Life Sciences
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Law, Politics and Administration
  • Languages, Cultures and Societies

Many of our researchers collaborate with academic and community partners, government, non-governmental organisations and the business sector. The University encourages openness to others within and outside the University and a climate of open innovation. Knowledge sharing and collaboration (‘Open Science’) are keywords in academia today. The university of the future will largely be a network university because universities will only be able to achieve their ambitions through collaboration with others.
