Dr. Els De Busser is universitair docent cyber security governance bij het Institute of Security and Global Affairs van Universiteit Leiden. Zij is teamleider van het NOW-gefinancierd project Cyber Security by Integrated Design (C-SIDe project) en geeft onderwijs in digitale gerechtigheid, gegevensbescherming en privacy, juridische aspecten van cyber security, AI en mensenrechten en Europees strafrecht.
Zij is gespecialiseerd in multidisciplinair onderwijs en onderzoek op deze thema’s.
Els is onderzoeker in het The Hague Program for International Cyber Security en is lid van de Permanente Commissie van Deskundigen in Internationaal Vreemdelingen-, Vluchtelingen- en Strafrecht (Commissie Meijers).
In 2014 ontving Els de Siracusa Prize for Young Penalists (AIDP and the International Siracusa Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights).
