Continuing your studies
In order to deepen your knowledge of psychology, Leiden University encourages you to continue your studies with a master programme.
Master's Programmes
At Leiden University we offer two types of master's programmes in psychology. You can choose a one-year professional master which prepares you for the working environment or a two-year research master that focuses on teaching scientific methods. All master's courses are offered in English, with the exception of the in Dutch taught specialisation Klinische Psychologie, and you will finalise your master with an internship and a thesis.

In order to apply for a research master you need to show interest and talent for scientific research.
Internship
Both the professional and the research master require you to do an internship in a field related to your studies. Student Niek van Droffelaar, who did a master in Economic and Consumer Psychology, worked at Heineken International in Amsterdam.
PhD
If a master is still not enough for you, you have good grades and a strong interest in research, then doing a PhD may be the right choice for you. Under supervision of a professor you will publish articles and write a dissertation.
