International diploma
Did you obtain a non-Dutch (International or European Baccalaueate) or an international diploma? Then please upload the following documents in the uSis-submenu Admission (under Application Study Programme):
- Diplomas and transcripts:
-
Digital copies are required initially. Once you have been admitted, you will receive instructions on how to submit certified copies to the Admissions Office.
-
Documents must be in the original language and accompanied by official translations if they are not in English, Dutch, German or French.
-
If you have not yet completed your study programme, state your expected graduation date and submit copies of all transcripts obtained to date and, if not indicated on your transcript, your final exam subjects.
-
Submit transcripts from any uncompleted study programmes.
-
International Baccalaureate students must submit their transcript with IB grades obtained so far, at least containing their first year’s final grades, and a list of their final year subjects and levels. In addition, IB students are advised to also submit their predicted grades. We cannot accept transcripts with predicted grades only.
-
European Baccalaureate students should indicate the subjects in which they will take their written and oral examinations.
-
US High School students should upload any AP, SAT or ACT results obtained to date, or indicate in which subjects they will take the College Board AP exams.
-
For students with a refugee background who do not have verifiable documentation from their previous education, Leiden University offers an alternative assessment procedure. If this applies to you, make sure to upload a detailed CV containing an explanation of which documents you have and detailed information on all education attended.
-
- English language test results. You can apply for admission before receiving the results of your English language test. However, a sufficient result will then be a condition of your eventual admission. Of course, if you already have your English language test result, you can upload it right away.
Dutch VWO
Are your currently in or repeating 6 VWO*
Upload your document(s) in the uSis-submenu Selection & Placement (under Application Study Programme) before 31 January:
- The confirmation of the submitted Online Form. The link to the Online Form can be found in the uSis-submenu Selection & Placement. Note: You must save the confirmation as PDF and upload this document in the online portal.
- Your transition report from 5 VWO to 6 VWO. Please note: this is only applicable if your GPA is higher than 7.5 (thus, 7.6 and higher) for subjects in which you will take both school exams as well as the central exam. You do not have to calculate your GPA yourself, this happens automatically when you fill in the Online Form. If your GPA is higher than 7.5, then you will need to submit a grade list so that we can verify this. You must use the ‘UNL-cijferlijst middelbare scholen 2026-2027’ form which you can download here.
- Ask your current educational institution to fill in the PDF digitally, and then print and sign the document.
- It is important that your educational institution fills in all the grades of your 5 VWO transition report for the subjects in which you are taking your final exams. They should not fill in previously completed courses (for example, 3 VWO courses). Your educational institution may also not include grades obtained in 6 VWO. Resits of 5 VWO subjects may be included, provided they fall under the VWO transition report.
- Grades should be written with one decimal behind the decimal point.
- For more information on filling in the transition report, please see the corresponding 'FAQ cijferlijst decentrale selectie' (in Dutch).
Make sure to submit your application as soon as possible so that you will know well in advance whether your application is complete and that you can participate in the selection process. You can do so from the 1st of October. Do not wait until the last moment to submit your application.
