Daan Weggemans is an Assistant Professor and researcher at the Institute for Security and Global Affairs (ISGA). He has a background in (political) philosophy. He wrote his PhD about digital authority (‘What makes people blindly rely on digital technologies?’). 

His research focuses on contemporary security issues, with a particular emphasis on digital security and conceptual thinking. In addition, he chairs the board of the bachelor's programme in Cybersecurity & Cybercrime. Previously, he served as the director of the Bachelor Security Studies. His earlier publications focussed on extremism and terrorism, including the (legal) case of Anders Behring Breivik and the de-radicalisation and reintegration of extremists.
