Read about application and placement procedures
Information about applying for minors and the admission criteria that apply for Leiden University students can be found on the University website for students.
Make sure you apply in time via Usis. Bear in mind that each minor has a maximum number of places and that in April and May we reserve a third of the places on each minor for students at Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam. This is in the context of our collaboration with these two universities within the Leiden•Delft•Erasmus alliance. Delft and Rotterdam also reserve a third of the places on their minors for students at the partner universities during the months of April and May.
Minors Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University
Leiden students can apply via uSis in May for minors at Delft University of Technology or Erasmus University Rotterdam. The deadline for some minors, particularly at Delft, is in April rather than May. For more information on the LDE minors and specific application dates, please see the websites of Erasmus University Rotterdam and TU Delft. In May, a third of the places in each minor are reserved for students from the two partner universities. Under the same conditions as mentioned above at 2, Leiden students can apply for minors at Rotterdam and Delft.
Applying for a minor does not automatically mean that you have a place. In principle, Leiden students have priority over external students for Leiden minors, with the exception of Rotterdam and Delft students who have applied in April or May.
Leiden students can see in uSis whether they have a place on their chosen minor or have been placed on the waiting list. A different application deadline applies to a number of minors at both Leiden University and Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam. Students who have applied for these will be notified about their placement before 1 May.
Changed your mind?
Any student who decides not to take the minor after applying should de-register as soon as possible via uSis. This means that their place can then be offered to another student.
