Information for PhD candidates
Welcome to the PhD Portal of LIACS! Below you find information on the PhD coordinator, the PQRS programme, and the PhD coach
The PhD Coordinator, Marloes van der Nat is the link between LIACS and the Graduate School of the Faculty of Science. The PhD Coordinator oversees all administrative procedures from registration to graduation, including Lucris, for every PhD candidate. As the primary contact point for PhD candidates and staff, the PhD Coordinator also establishes relationships with all candidates and handles confidential matters and referrals to counselors.
PQRS, Progress Quality Research Support, is an overarching independent program to support the interests of all PhD candidates. It monitors together with the PhD candidate their progress and identifies issues, facilitates solutions, and advises the Scientific Director. The PQRS team consists of a Scientific Chair, currently Prof. dr. Thomas Bäck (with Prof. dr. Joost Batenburg acting as Scientific Chair for the PhD candidates working in Prof. Bäck's group), Marloes van der Nat (PhD Coordinator), and Sylvia Maas (PhD Officer).
The LIACS PhD Coach, Alexandra Blank, offers PhD candidates personalized support and advice to ensure their well-being amidst the challenges they face. Moreover she is involved in the organization of PhD activities to build a community feeling.
Together the PhD Coordinator, PQRS and the PhD Coach play a pivotal role in guiding the PhD candidates during their PhD trajectory.
