Leiden Learning & Innovation Centre
LLInC Studio
The interactive media and simulations studio designed and built by our in-house Data & Media team.
By integrating innovative and extensive media hardware and software under one roof, the LLInC studio runs experiments, builds prototypes, develops applications, and produces a variety of ever-evolving forms of media.
Operating on a centralised computing rack connected to all input/output devices (including cameras, projectors, lights, trackers, and headsets), it achieves results impossible without such tight technological integration.
What do we offer?
Using computers equipped with the latest consumer GPUs (graphic processing units), we run simulations and photorealistic renderings of virtual environments.
We can also facilitate the local running of large language models (LLMs), AI, and real-time computer vision algorithms.
The studio is specially-designed with virtual production in mind - a newly-established filming technique which blends virtual environments with a physical set.
To achieve this result, the green screen is replaced with a projection screen, facilitating its integration with game engine technologies, tracking, and light control.
The studio specialises in running multi-user Extended Reality (XR) applications for learning, training, and research.
Through these applications, users are transported to virtual worlds. While immersed, their movements and actions can be tracked by our studio, allowing them to participate in one shared virtual space.
Our studio is capable of both 3D printing and scanning, both of which are incorporated into the system as a whole.
Our podcasting table can comfortably host and record four participants at any one time.
