Out and about!
There's a whole lot to discover and experience in nature. But children who grow up in the city are seeing less and less greenery. During the Out and About! days junior school pupils will be going on a green expedition in their neighbourhood.
May and June 2019, around 1,000 junior school pupils will have a day out outdoor activities in a lovely green environment. They will actively explore the area and get involved in all kinds of activities, from baking pizzas to spotting insects. They will be doing craft activities, working with camouflage, collecting, tasting and moving around in and with nature.
This is part of the festive celebrations marking the 444th birthday of Leiden University. Students and researchers will be talking about their work and conducting practical experiments to encourage school pupils to do some research of their own.
Thanks to the collaboration with Leiden University, there will be two Out and About days in The Hague: on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 May two classes will get together on each of the two days in the Zuiderpark. In Leiden the days will be 21 May and 7 June in Cronesteyn.
