The Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA) offers courses at both bachelor’s and master’s level. There are also minors, online learning and courses for professionals.

  • Bachelor Security Studies 
    Security challenges such as terrorism and cybercrime rank among the most pressing issues of our time. In the Bachelor’s in Security Studies you study 21st century security challenges and learn to devise strategic solutions to a complex world.
  • Master's in Crisis and Security Management (CSM)
    As crises arising from terrorism, civil war, and natural disasters dominate world news it is no surprise that security and crisis management - including the perception of risk - is at the top of the global societal and governance agenda.
     
  • (Advanced) Master's in International Relations and Diplomacy
    The two-year Advanced MSc IRD programme offers you a unique blend of academic education in international relations and political science with practical graduate education and training in international negotiation and diplomacy.
     
  • (Executive) Master's in Cyber Security
    As a partner of the Cyber Security Academy the Hague, ISGA provides postgraduate education to professionals involved with the organisation and approach of issues in the field of (cyber) security in the private or public sector as well as professionals who have knowledge in the field of ICT.
  • Security, Safety and Justice (SSJ)
    How do we protect our society against terrorism? Can we secure the complex world of cyberspace? Are self-driving cars safe enough? Who is responsible if something goes wrong? How do we balance surveillance and privacy?
     
  • Global Affairs
    The minor Global Affairs is built on two pillars of International Relations: International Security and International Political Economy. This minor aims to provide students with the tools and knowledge to understand the most important global trends and challenges. 
     
  • Intelligence Studies
    In this minor programme, attention is being paid to the structure, working methods and the qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques used by intelligence and security agencies that operated particularly during the last half of the 20th century and the present day. 
  • Violence Studies
    In this minor programme, students will become familiar with the nature and scope of violence; the ways in which it impacts public order, and the ways in which society can respond to and, ultimately, prevent violence.
  • Cyber Security Governance Essentials
    The Leiden Institute of Advance Computer Science (LIACS) in collaboration with the Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA) have developed the minor Cyber Security Governance Essentials to provide students with a mixture of technical and governance knowledge to set them on a path towards understanding cyberspace and cybersecurity. 
  • Cybersecurity & Cybercrime [Dutch]
    This minor aims to provide students with the tools and knowledge to identify, analyse and address the biggest challenges that come with our reliance on digital technology: cybersecurity and cybercrime.

In collaboration with the Centre for Professional Learning, multiple programmes for practioners in the field of preventing, detecting, and responding to violent extremism are offered. Most programmes are in Dutch. You can find more information on the website of Centre for Professional Learning.
