About the project
At the University of Tunis El Manar, the world’s largest research group in Positivity is based. This mathematical field, Positivity, is part of functional analysis and focuses on ordered structures and their applications.
The aim of this Erasmus+ ICM project is to strengthen the collaboration between this group and the group in Leiden, to exchange knowledge, and to conduct joint research, both at the level of staff members and PhD students.
In May and June 2024 four staff members from University of Tunis El Manar, Rawaa Hajji, Hamza Hafsi, Miloud Chil, and Mohamed Habibi, visited Leiden University.
Later that year, from 14 to 19 October, project coordinator Marcel de Jeu travelled to Tunis.

From 14-16 January 2025 a workshop in Positivity was organised in Leiden by Marcel de Jeu. At that time, there were 7 visitors within the framework of the ICM project with University of Tunis El Manar, 2 within the framework of a related ICM project in call 2022 with University of Pretoria, and 1 within the framework of yet another ICM project in call 2024 with University of Alberta. In addition, there was one participant from Queen's University Belfast and one participant from Delft University of Technology. Without the support from Erasmus+, it would never have been possible to bring together students and researchers from so many different places.
