On Campus Master’s Experience Day: Faculty of Science

Do you want to pursue a master's programme at the Faculty of Science or perhaps you are still in doubt? Then join us during the Master's Experience Day on 17 March 2023 at the Science Campus in Leiden.

Our MSc programmes offer different activities that you can join:

  • Experience an (interactive) Try-Out Lecture and get a feeling for the programme and the teaching style of your future docents.
  • Attend Experience Talks of the programme's current and former students: learn about their personal programme highlights, and which career paths some of the graduates have chosen. Get inspired for the future that awaits you after the programme!
  • During Q&A sessions you can ask all your questions to current and former students, docents and study advisors.
  • Some programmes also offer a specific tour to show you their buildings and laboratories.

Some master programmes and specialisations are not organizing any activities on this day, such as Mathematics, Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences and the specialisations Business Studies and Science Communication & Society​​​​​​. Description of Programme Activities

First you get to experience a try-out lecture with one of your future Astronomy professors.
Then you can listen to our student's talk about their experiences and ask your questions to them and our study advisor.

We recommend watching the programme’s introduction video beforehand to prepare for the session. 

Our master programme coordinators will present their master specialization and highlight a recent research project. Afterwards there will be a Q&A with our study advisor.
Furthermore, you are welcome to join a tour of our building and laboratories, guided by some of our current students.

A number of our students will tell about their choices and experiences with the MSc Chemistry programme. In addition, you can ask all your questions concerning our study programme to the students, the programme director Prof. Lies Bouwman or study adviser Hilde Zwaan.
Furthermore, we offer a lab tour in the Leiden Institute of Chemistry, during which you will learn about the type of research you can perform in your master thesis project.

In this try-out lecture on Reinforcement Learning you will get to experience how it is to study Computer Science at Leiden University.
Afterwards, a current and a former student will talk about their personal experience, and you will get to ask all your questions to them and our programme's staff members.

Meet a former student, study advisor, and a lecturer to discover in depth how we teach you to become a versatile IT professional in a programme that blends science, technology and business.

Curious about Industrial Ecology? Get to know docents, current and former students and have your first experience with an environmental impact assessment framework. In a fun and interactive workshop, based on team learning you will get familiar with impact pathways and the DPSIR framework and learn how to apply the framework to assess and design sustainable solutions. 
After the workshop, our current and former students will tell about their personal experiences during/ after the programme, and there will be plenty of time for you to ask all your questions to them and our study advisors!

If you are interested in the master's programme Governance of Sustainability, you can join its activity in the afternoon at the Master's Experience Day on the campus The Hague (14:30 - 18:30).

Experience how to bring your own questions and curiosity into scientific research. Can you create new scientific questions? Come attend our interactive try-out lecture about “Artificial Creativity”, or computers that are made to be creative. Together with current students you will work on compelling questions surrounding this topic. Join our staff and students, and ask them all your questions afterwards.

Quantum Information Science & Technology is a new joint degree master programme, a cooperation between TU Delft and Leiden University. 
On the Master's Experience Day in Leiden, you can learn more about the programme by attending a try-out lecture from 10:00-11:00 and joining a Q&A session with the programme director from 11:00-11:45.

Please note: This new master programme is pending final approval by the Dutch Minister of Education, Science and Culture.

Attend an introductory try-out lecture for the master Statistics & Data Science: "Multivariate and Multidimensional Data Analysis".

Met de universitaire lerarenopleiding (Master Leraar VHO) haal je een eerstegraads onderwijsbevoegdheid. Daarmee kun je jouw vak geven in de onderbouw en bovenbouw van het voortgezet onderwijs (vwo, havo en vmbo) en mbo.
Meer weten? Kom dan naar dit proefcollege. We laten je kennis maken met het onderwijs binnen verschillende schoolvakken en vertellen over de Master Leraar VHO. Tijdens de presentatie krijg je informatie over de opleiding en kun je vragen stellen.
