Thijs Bosker is universitair hoofddocent Milieuwetenschappen. In zijn onderzoek gebruikt hij laboratorium- en veldtechnieken om de impact van verontreinigingen op de gezondheid van ecosystemen te bestuderen, met de nadruk op stress-on-stress-scenario's onder estuariene omstandigheden. Hij voert zijn onderzoek uit in Canada, de VS, het Caribisch gebied en Nederland.
