Caroline Waerzeggers is expert op het gebied van kleitabletten in spijkerschrift uit Mesopotamië (3000 v. Chr. tot 70 n. Chr). Dit zijn de oudste vormen van literatuur en recht en belangrijke ontdekkingen in de wetenschap en techniek. Caroline begeleidt studenten bij projecten over het oude Mesopotamië. 'De studie Oude Nabije Oosten-studies is een unicum binnen Nederland. En ook op wereldniveau zijn we een van de belangrijkste centra binnen dit vakgebied. Daarom komen veel internationale studenten en onderzoekers op ons af.'
