Emma ter Mors studeerde in 2003 af in de Sociale en Organisatie Psychologie aan de Universiteit Leiden (cum laude). Na haar studie begon ze als promovendus binnen de sectie Sociale en Organisatiepsychologie van de Universiteit Leiden (2004-2008). Haar promotieonderzoek richtte zich op de invloed van bronpercepties op de selectie, verwerking en acceptatie van complexe informatie over CO2 afvang transport en opvang technologie (CCS). Na de afronding van haar proefschrift is Emma vanuit de Universiteit Leiden van 2009-2015 aangesteld geweest als postdoctoraal onderzoeker en projectleider binnen het subprogramma “Publieke Perceptie” van CATO-2, het Nederlandse nationale onderzoeksprogramma naar CCS. Sinds 2015 werkt Emma ter Mors als universitair docent Sociale, Economische en Organisatie Psychologie voor de Universiteit Leiden.
Onderzoek
In haar huidige onderzoek richt Emma ter Mors zich met name op het identificeren van factoren die de publieke acceptatie van energie-technologieën beïnvloeden. Ze leidt momenteel het subprogramma “Implementing CCUS in Society” van het ALIGN-CCUS project (2017-2020). Het doel van ALIGN-CCUS is om de overgang van bestaande industriële regio’s in de EU naar een economisch stabiele en low-carbon toekomstige situatie in 2025 te ondersteunen.
