The department of business studies offers bachelor education to the ambitious and entrepreneurial students of Leiden University. The department provides courses like entrepreneurship and innovation, but also accounting, finance, organisational behaviour, marketing and strategic management.
The Leiden Law School Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which is part of the department, focuses on stimulating entrepreneurship and innovation in legal practice.
In the field of research the department is mainly concerned with how companies can be rescued, in particular by means of turnaround management, to avoid bankruptcy. In this context international scholars and practitioners in the field are cooperating in the 'Turnaround, Rescue & Insolvency research team Leiden' (TRI Leiden).
