Prof. dr. Jeroen Duindam

Jeroen Duindam is Professor of Early Modern History. His research focuses on the comparative study of rulers and elites. His global examination of dynasty and succession highlighted the differentiated roles of women in power constellations, a theme he has been pursuing in recent research. Read more.

Prof. Dario Fazzi

Dario Fazzi is Professor of Transatlantic Environmental History at Leiden University and the Roosevelt Institute for American Studies in Middelburg, the Netherlands. His main field of research lies in environmental and transatlantic history. His work is situated at the crossroads between diplomatic and environmental studies. Read more.

Dr. Shiru Lim

Shiru Lim is assistant professor at the Institute for History. Her research revolves around the relationship between intellectual and political authority. Most of her work focuses on the period c.1680-1820 and on the French-, German-, and Russian-speaking world. She is committed to multilingual and cross-boundary approaches to the study of history. Prof. Marieke Bloembergen

Marieke Bloembergen is a cultural historian and senior researcher at KITLV, and professor in Heritage and Postcolonial Studies in Indonesian History at Leiden University’s Institute for History. Her research interests concern the political dynamics of cultural knowledge production in colonial and post-colonial Indonesia. Read more.

Dr. Carolien Stolte

Carolien Stolte is Associate Professor of History at the Institute for History. She specializes in modern global history with a regional focus on South Asia. She is particularly interested in how ideas travel to and from South Asia. Read more.

Dr. Eric Storm

Eric Storm is a specialist in Spanish history of the 19th and 20th centuries. He also conducted extensive research into the construction of regional identities in France, Spain and Germany between 1890 and 1940. Read more.
