Required documents
Along with your application, you will have to submit a variety of documents. This information only applies to students who need to submit an application for admission. If you have a diploma that grants you automatic admission to this bachelor’s programme, you won’t need to submit additional documents.
Required application documents
Copies of diplomas and transcripts
- Please upload your academic records of all attended secondary and higher education (completed and uncompleted), including any external national or university (entrance) exam results.
- Digital copies are required initially. Once you have been admitted, we will tell you how to submit certified copies to the Admissions Office so we can verify your documents.
- Documents must be in the original language and accompanied by official translations if they are not in English, Dutch, German or French.
- If you have not yet completed your study programme, state your expected graduation date and submit copies of all transcripts obtained to date and, if not indicated on your transcript, your final exam subjects.
- If your academic/professional background is complex, irregular, or your graduation was not recent, please include a CV to help us understand your educational history. (e.g. using the Europass template). Your CV will only be used for credential evaluation purposes.
- International Baccalaureate students must submit their transcript with IB grades obtained so far, at least containing their first year’s final grades, and a list of their final year subjects and levels.
- European Baccalaureate students should indicate the subjects in which they will take their written and oral examinations.
- US High School students should upload any AP, SAT or ACT results obtained to date, or indicate in which subjects they will take the College Board AP exams.
- Dutch Colloquium doctum applicants must also submit a CV and letter of motivation. Please mention clearly that you want to apply through the colloquium doctum procedure in the letter of motivation.
- For students with a refugee background who do not have verifiable documentation from their previous education, Leiden University offers an alternative assessment procedure. If this applies to you, make sure to upload a detailed CV containing an explanation of which documents you have and detailed information on all education attended.
Language proficiency information
You can apply before you obtain the results of your language exam. If you are admitted, it will be on condition of the result being good enough.
