Dr. Joanna Cook is afgestudeerd aan het King's College Londen waar zij ook haar masterdiploma behaalde. Zij promoveerde vervolgens aan the Department of War Studies (BA University of Regina) in Canada. Haar onderzoek richt zich met name op vrouwen die betrokken zijn bij gewelddadig extremisme, het tegengaan van gewelddadig extremisme en methodes voor het tegengaan van gewelddadig extremisme.

Dr. Joanna Cook is afgestudeerd aan het King's College Londen waar zij ook haar masterdiploma behaalde. Zij promoveerde vervolgens aan the Department of War Studies (BA University of Regina) in Canada. Haar onderzoek richt zich met name op vrouwen die betrokken zijn bij gewelddadig extremisme, het tegengaan van gewelddadig extremisme en methodes voor het tegengaan van gewelddadig extremisme. Meer recente wetenschappelijke interesses zijn non-state actor governance en de verschillende factoren en wegen die leiden naar radicalisering. Met ingang van 2020 is zij aangesteld als Universitair Docent Terrorism and Political Violence.
