Netherlands Institute Morocco
Impact
NIMAR, like other university institutes, shares reliable, high-quality academic knowledge, the product of teaching and research, with society.
The knowledge collected and transmitted in teaching and research is partly of direct relevance to Dutch business and government, combined with the networks that provide access to important sectors of Moroccan society.
More general knowledge of society and culture, in the form of interpretation and background information, indirectly delivers great impact and is indispensable for maintaining sound relations with Morocco and the wider region, both the Maghreb and Africa. The bond with the embassy offers many opportunities to put this knowledge and these networks to use for Dutch policy and the improvement of bilateral relations. The institute is also, in potential, a useful instrument for the international policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
NIMAR creates impact in three different ways: in the form of larger multi year projects, made possible through funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; in the form of smaller activities in cooperation with the embassy and other ad hoc exchanges; and as its own events, partly in cooperation with civil society in Morocco and in the Netherlands.
For inquiries on recent political or public developments concerning the Netherlands and Morocco, NIMAR refers to the relevant departments and/or persons at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Leiden University.
