Femicide Monitor

The Dutch Femicide Monitor aims to gain a better understanding of female homicide in the Netherlands over the last 10 years.

The Dutch Femicide Monitor

Femicide is the killing of a woman or girl, (partly) because she is a woman. Many people would like to know more about femicide in the Netherlands – how often does it occur, and under what circumstances? To answer those questions, it is necessary to obtain data on femicide in a clear and organized manner. That is the goal of the Dutch Femicide Monitor. The monitor contains all cases of murder and manslaughter involving female victims in the Netherlands during the period 2014-2025. Through the Femicide Monitor, we hope to provide researchers, journalists, policymakers, and the public with insight into cases in which women are killed.

Webapplication Femicide Monitor

With the Femicide Monitor web application, you can access a range of statistics on femicide cases at case, suspect and victim levels in the Netherlands since 2014. The application includes a filtering function that allows users to zoom in and explore data based on various factors.
