Within the Expertise Centre Gender-Based Violence, several research projects are underway into sexual violence and transgressive behavior, with particular attention to the role of social norms and professional contexts that shape this behavior.

In a project funded by NWO-Veni we are investigating how professional standards and institutional practices in the cultural sector can facilitate sexually transgressive behavior. Additionally, we are involved in the NWA-project T@CKLE, which investigates how norms surrounding victim blaming, masculinity, and alcohol use contribute to the perpetuation of sexual violence, and how these can be broken in practice together with societal partners.

Finally, our research offers insight into how the media reports on sexual violence and how journalistic choices can contribute to reinforcing or, conversely, breaking existing norms and stereotypes.
