Population Health Management (MSc)

February starters

If you're considering starting the master’s in February, please take into account that the programme may be adapted if fewer than 12 students enroll. In that case, you'll begin with an intensive crash course designed to provide essential foundational knowledge. Read below what the adapted program will look like.

Crash course

From February 3 to March 7, you will follow an intensive five-week crash course. This course gives you sufficient pre-knowledge to follow the courses Syndemics and Alternative Payment Models and prepares you for your first two months internship.

The crash course begins with an introduction day that combines orientation activities and an introduction to Population Health Management. In the following weeks, you will explore PHM concepts, value perspectives, and research methodologies. You will also gain basic skills in data analysis and R programming. By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge and skills needed to continue with the program

First year

Once you have completed the crash course, you have sufficient knowledge to join the September 2025 cohort for the courses Syndemics and Alternative Payment Models. After these courses, you will start the first part of your individualized programme (May and June 2026). Because your individualized programme is divided into two smaller pieces of 8 weeks each, it is more difficult to spend this time abroad. From the new academic year, you will join the new September 2026 starters and continue the program together with them. We make sure that you connect well with the cohort.

Second year

From February until July of the second year will be partially structured by the programme, rather than being fully elective. This means you cannot fully plan this period yourself. This is only possible if you start the master's in September. Please check whether the courses you want to follow are available during this period (March and April 2027).

If you have any questions about the adjusted programme, feel free to contact our study advisor Anna Bolhuis on studyadvisorphm@lumc.nl.
