Mees Vergouwen is sinds 1 juli 2025 voor 1 dag per week (0,2 fte) verbonden aan Universiteit Leiden als universitair docent. Daarnaast is hij in dienst bij KPMG Meijburg & Co voor 4 dagen per week (0,8 fte). Voorafgaand aan 1 juli 2025 was Mees Vergouwen werkzaam bij De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek als belastingadviseur naast zijn werkzaamheden aan de Universiteit Leiden als universitair docent en promovendus.
