Adam Buben is universitair docent filosofie aan de Universiteit van Leiden. Veel van zijn onderzoek - met name zijn monografie Meaning and Mortality in Kierkegaard and Heidegger: Origin of the Existential Philosophy of Death (2016) - ging over het onderwerp dood in de geschiedenis van de filosofie. Recent is hij zich gaan richten op de studie naar de impact van technologische ontwikkelingen op de filosofie van de dood.
