Leiden Centre for Continental Philosophy
The Leiden Centre for Continental Philosophy (LCCP) is a research community based at the Institute for Philosophy at Leiden University. LCCP is envisaged as an open space for stimulating discussion, critical debate and inventive co-operation in the local and international philosophical community. We are devoted to research in all areas of continental philosophy broadly construed, and welcome different readings of our shared philosophical situation.
Members of the LCCP community
The current members of the community work on a diverse set of pressing themes in the domain of continental philosophy. We are interested in fanaticism, political violence and conflict, planetary thinking and ecology. We also focus on embodiment, decolonialism, technics and art. Finally, we are concerned with questions relating to the space, tasks and possibilities of and for philosophy itself.
We share the conviction that addressing these themes means an inspired yet critical relation with the history of philosophy: we share an interest in Kant and German Idealism (especially Hegel and Schelling) and Nietzsche studies; we take our inspiration from phenomenology, Critical Theory and poststructuralism.
Activities of LCCP
The LCCP holds a monthly research seminar. We discuss work in progress and also host guest speakers from other universities presenting their current or ongoing work. The LCCP community includes staff members and PhD students; it aims to be a community where PhD students can share and present their work in a number of formal and informal settings.
