Curriculum vitae

Prof. dr. Manon van der Heijden is a social historian, working in the field of early modern urban history. In 1998 she received her Ph.D. at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where she worked from 1992-1998. From 1999-2006 she was appointed at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. Since September 2006 she works at Leiden University. In 2005 she was granted a NWO VIDI project Civil Services and Urban Communities, 1500-1800. In 2012 she was granted a NWO VICI project Crime and Gender 1600-1900. Since 2014 Manon van der Heijden is member of the Academia Europaea.
