Read the stories of our alumni specialized in South Asia and Southeast Asia here.

Anni-Elina Vänskä

Alumni dreams #65

After completing the BA, Anni-Elina Vänskä worked as a Web Assistant for the The City of Helsinki Information Technology and Communications Division during the summer. Her main tasks were content management, photography and publishing news.

In August she moved to Sweden for an MSc at Lund University in Asian Studies with the focus on South Asia, which was already her area of interest during International Studies.

Anni-Elina is also a student representative in the academic board of the Centre for East and South-East Asian studies, her unit of study. Besides studying, she also works as a photographer, illustrator and reporter for the student magazine Tidningen Lundagård!

Lonneke Holling

Alumni dreams #104

Lonneke Holling did the BA with a specialization in South and Southeast Asia and internship for Enablecode that promotes employment of people with disabilities in Vietnam.

She spent 7 months working for AFS Netherlands that coordinates exchange programs for high school students, which helped save money before her master's. Lonneke had gone on exchange to the US through AFS herself at 15.

Currently, she is in Jamkhed, a rural village in India, doing an internship at a rural health NGO called the Comprehensive Rural Health Project! After the summer, she will move to Paris and start a Master in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action at Sciences Po.

Way to combine your area interest with social impact Lonneke! Curious to see your master specialization in the 2nd year.
