Leiden Centre for Sustainability Governance
Collaboration
Interdisciplinary education and research projects
The Centre has a strong interdisciplinary character, with collaboration being key to our day-to-day operations. We collaborate within our department with colleagues from the other centres: the Hague Centre for Digital Governance, the Centre for Public Value & Ethics, the Centre for Sustainability and the Leiden Leadership Centre. Other academic collaborations include the Cities Hub and Fair Futures, a collaboration with the Climate Action Hub from the TU Delft.
Through shared education programmes, we work together with the Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML) as well as with the social science faculty. Our students take part in the interdisciplinary thesis programmes from the Leiden, Delft, Erasmus (LDE) partnership and visit the Polderlab during their studies to gain experience in fieldwork.
There are also increasingly more educational exchanges with Delft University through shared programmes, such as fair futures and shared master courses in different master programmes, such as the sustainability challenge.
Staff members collaborate with other faculties through the Liveable Planet programme, which aims to stimulate interdisciplinary research cooperation between four faculties at Leiden University.
Beyond collaboration between faculties and Dutch universities, the centre is involved in many other international exchange programmes, such as the UNA Europa project, which links different European universities to create a pan-European university environment, of which sustainability is one key theme.
