Leiden Centre for Sustainability Governance
Projects
Through our research, we aim to enhance both scholarly understanding and practical knowledge in sustainability governance, while making meaningful contributions to the public debates on these critical issues. To achieve this goal, we embrace diversity in our research topics, methodological approaches, and theoretical frameworks. Our investigations encompass multiple jurisdictions, geographic regions, and cultural settings.
We base our empirical findings on diverse methodological approaches, including ethnographic studies, comparative case analyses, quantitative surveys, mixed-method designs, and participatory research techniques. Our distinctly interdisciplinary perspective unites scholars from the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, and humanities.
To strengthen the connection between academic research and real-world sustainability governance practices, we maintain active partnerships with practitioners from public institutions, private organisations, and civil society in both our research initiatives and educational programmes.
Our project portfolio exemplifies this collaborative approach. They are funded by the EU and NWO , as well as by public and private sector organisations. We are engaged in the following projects:
- JustETrans: A project aiming to achieve the energy transition in a fair way.
- Crafting Resilience: A project focused on building a resilient society.
- Soil2Guts: A project on the transition to an agri-food system where an integrated understanding is established that improves soil, crop, and human gut.
- BBBGreen: A project focused on the transition to more nature inclusive horticulture.
- TRIPS: A project on the transition to a more biodiverse leek production system.
