Intro Week | Exchange Programme

The LUC Intro Week 2024 will take place from Monday August 19th through Friday August 23rd. The introduction week is your way to settle into LUC!

Monday 19 August

The Exchange office welcomes you to LUC!

Location: Classroom 3.07

As a start to this exciting week and years to come at LUC we want you all to get comfortable with each other in a fun way! Coming together as a group with people you don’t know can be a challenge. Therefore, icebreaker games with your mentors serve to let your group have a fun time, while also creating shared experiences that you can bond over! Essential: icebreaking is teambuilding. Team-building with people that are becoming your neighbours, study partners, partners in crime, friends and family!

Location: Classrooms

During the Walking Tour The Hague the mentor groups will walk past the important spots in The Hague that every LUC student should know. In a “scavenger hunt” style they will pass by useful places to get settled in The Hague. At the end, the mentees will get sent a document with a list of places that they visited during the tour including some fun extra places that were not specifically mentioned in the tour

Location: Starting point AvB

MasterChef will take you on a culinary journey filled with delicious flavors. The activity will be to prepare a three-meal course to compete against other mentor groups. Each plate will be judged by a mentor duo, and there will be a winning mentor group. Put on your chef’s hat, sharpen your knives and let’s get cooking!

Location: Residential floors

Tuesday 20 August

The RA team would like to invite you to a Community Lunch on Floor 2. We will be serving a home cooked (vegan) meal. This is a unique experience that demonstrates the community experience at LUC.

Due to the maximum capacity our kitchen can handle, we will split the groups.

This session will be split into a session for internationals and people with previous Dutch experience.

During these parallel sessions you'll find out what is typically Dutch culture or you'll find out what it means to be a Dutch student in an international programme.

1) Going Dutch | The Netherlands: a cheese-loving and rainy country with its strangely tall inhabitants. And for some of you a brand new home that you have to get used to. Quite a challenge, and therefore we are here to help! Flirting in Dutch, music and oliebollen: "Going Dutch" will cover it all.

Location: Auditorium

---------------------------------------------

2) Being Dutch | Joining an international environment like LUC is an exciting new adventure. Something very different from studying Rechtsgeleerdheid or Bouwkunde, with only Dutch students! We hope you are really excited to start this journey, but you might also be wondering what it will be like. Not to worry! In this session we will prepare you for what to expect as a Dutchie at LUC.

Location: Coasters on Floor 2

Get together with your mentor group.

The Airband Battle is a contest where everyone gets an opportunity to unleash their inner star! Every mentor group will showcase their dancing and lip-syncing skills to different beats in some fun costumes.

Location: Auditorium

Did you complete the most challenges during the walking tour or did your group receive the most points during Beach Day? Then you might be called forward to receive your well-deserved price!

Location: Auditorium

End Intro Week with a bang! We will join HOPweek to mingle with all other students in The Hague for one big final party. There are limited spots for LUC students and wrist bands are mandatory! Minors are allowed to attend.

Please note that the doors close at 01:00!

Location: PAARDPrinsegracht 12, Den Haag

After Intro Week | Wednesday 2 October

In this session you will be introduced to Learning Mindset, LUC’s award-winning educational innovation team. You will prepare your own graduation folder by writing a letter to your "future self at graduation." On the basis of this letter, we will help you discover how you can shape your education to be in line with your intrinsic motivation as well as provide you with effective learning strategies to reach your goals. Write it down in your agenda and see you there!
