We bring Academia in Motion to the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs (FGGA) by developing initiatives that align with our faculty’s themes, culture and ambitions. Our faculty Academia in Motion Team (fAiM) was established to support this.

Who we are

fAiM is a network of colleagues from across FGGA. The team includes representatives from:

• The Institute of Public Administration
• The Institute of Security and Global Affairs
• Leiden University College
• Members of the Faculty Office

Colleagues from the three institutes are actively committed to the AiM themes and are keen to promote them within their own working environments. From the Faculty Office, the Research Policy Officer and the Head of HR, among others, are involved through their roles within AiM. The team is supported by a secretary.

What we do

We bring together ideas, encourage discussion and help make Academia in Motion visible and relevant within FGGA. We support cultural change by:

• advising on topics such as Open Science and Recognition & Rewards;
• gathering feedback, ideas, questions and initiatives from across the faculty and discussing these with the Faculty Board and the institute boards;
• organising workshops, symposia and meetings that promote knowledge sharing, raise awareness and facilitate the exchange of ideas;
• connecting FGGA to the central AiM network and sharing relevant developments within our academic community.

fAiM is not a formal committee but an open and flexible team. We believe in taking small steps, creating space for experimentation, encouraging creative ideas and developing tailored solutions for institutes and specific topics. In this way, we contribute to an academic culture centred on collaboration, recognition and development.

How we work

We meet at least three times per year to exchange experiences, discuss developments and explore new ideas. We also organise an annual workshop, debate or other inspiring event for the FGGA community. The Dean of FGGA, who holds the research portfolio, is closely involved with fAiM and strengthens the connections between initiatives within the faculty and the Faculty Board.
