About the course 'Digital Crime'

The problem of digital crime goes far beyond the crimes committed on the Internet: nowadays, almost all crime can leave digital traces. The development of information technologies creates unique opportunities for criminal activities, and policymakers are always chasing a moving target as they try to bring policies and laws up to speed to address new online threats.

This course explores the issue of Digital Crime by examining what digital crime is, how it fits into existing frameworks and understandings of crime, as well as who the victims and offenders are. The course will also explore legal frameworks and other national and international efforts to develop solutions to tackle digital crimine. Finally, nobody can expect governments and their agencies to fight digital crime alone, which is why the role of private industry and other stakeholders in digital crime is also explored.
