Photocatalytic approaches for carbon-heteroatom bond construction
hotocatalysis has emerged as a powerful tool for enabling challenging transformations in organic synthesis. This thesis explores the development of several photocatalytic reactions designed to form carbon-heteroatom bonds from less-functionalized precursors.

The first part of the thesis focuses on two mechanistically distinct pathways for the activation of sulfonyl azides, which were utilized to synthesize valuable aziridine products from alkenes. The second part presents two strategies for transforming carbon-hydrogen bonds into carbon-nitrogen and carbon-oxygen bonds, respectively.
