Shivant Jhagroe is universitair docent aan het Instituut voor Bestuurskunde. Zijn huidige onderzoek richt zich op gemarginaliseerde en meer-dan-menselijke actoren in beleid en politiek (bijv. geracialiseerde/lage-inkomens groepen, ecosystemen, algoritmes). Hij is met name geïnteresseerd in de rol van zulke actoren in nieuwe governance arrangementen rond duurzaamheid en digitale technologie, met een focus op kennis/macht, ongelijkheid en rechtvaardigheid. Met zijn onderzoek poogt hij perspectieven en strategieën te ontwikkelen voor een meer duurzame, democratische en rechtvaardige toekomst. Zijn onderwijs richt zich op onderwerpen als milieubeleid, de energietransitie en klimaatrechtvaardigheid.
