Jacqueline Hylkema is Universitair Docent Cultuurgeschiedenis aan Leiden University College The Hague en Senior Scaliger Fellow aan het Scaliger Instituut, het centrum voor de Bijzondere Collecties van de Universiteit Leiden. Haar onderzoek richt zich op vervalsing en de culturele, intellectuele, sociale en politieke implicaties hiervan in de vroegmoderne periode, met name in de Nederlandse Republiek en Groot-Brittannië. Hylkema is de curator van een nieuwe Bijzondere Collectie van de Universiteit Leiden, die zal bestaan uit vervalsingen – van fake nieuws tot compleet verzonnen wetenschappelijke verhandelingen – uit de Nederlandse Republiek (1550-1800).
