Damian Alan Pargas is hoogleraar Amerikaanse Geschiedenis aan de Universiteit Leiden en tevens directeur van het Roosevelt Institute for American Studies te Middelburg. Zijn onderzoek richt zich voornamelijk op de geschiedenis van slavernij en emancipatie in de Verenigde Staten.
