Current research

My research interests include material studies and network analysis, focusing on the Late Formative period in Central America. My PhD project encompasses the excavation of Late Formative sites (400 B.C. to A.D. 300) in northeastern Honduras and the analysis of their artifacts with an emphasis on ceramics to understand the internal articulation of Late Formative interaction networks in Central America.

My research is part of the DFG-funded Proyecto Honduras from the Commission for Archaeology of Non-European Cultures at the German Archaeological Institute, led by Prof. Dr. Markus Reindel. The project investigates settlement patterns and networks in northeastern Honduras, an area that sits at the crossroads between Central America, Mesoamerica, and the Caribbean.

Curriculum vitae

I recently pivoted from Classical Archaeology to the Anthropology of the Americas. I joined the Proyecto Colón from the Commission for Archaeology of Non-European Cultures in Bonn at the German Archaeological Institute in 2022, which led me to my PhD research on Honduras’ Late Formative period.

I previously graduated from the University of Zurich with a B.A. in 2017, followed by an M.A. in 2021 in Classical Archaeology with a minor in Medieval Archaeology, during which I classified and contextualized Archaic and Late Geometric Greek ceramics from the University’s collection.

Throughout my studies, I was involved in both commercial and academic archaeology, working for state-led preventive archaeology in Switzerland and with the university project IETAS from the University of Zurich in Sicily.

Office days

Currently working from Bonn, Germany.
