Faculty Board

The Vice Chairman of the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Science is responsible for bachelor's and master's education within the faculty. As a Professor, his research and education concern: Industrial Biotechnology. The faculty is headed by the Faculty Board, consisting of the dean (research portfolio and also chairman), a board member with the portfolio education (also Deputy Dean), a board member with the portfolio of financial management and a student member (the assessor). Faculty board is responsible for the strategic policy of the faculty as a whole, the areas of education, research and management.
The Assessor is responsible to the Departmental Board in particular the interests of students.
The Faculty Board meets weekly, these meetings are not public. 

Professional experience

Han de Winde (1962) studied organic chemistry and biochemistry at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam, and obtained a PhD in molecular biology at the University of Amsterdam. He was NWO postdoctoral research fellow at the Amsterdam BioCenter and EC-HCM fellow at the Laboratory of Molecular Cell Biology, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. In 1996 he continued research in Leuven as an assistant professor. In 2000 he was appointed Senior Scientist Genetics & Physiology at DSM Bakery Ingredients. In 2002 he became a part-time full professor in Industrial Genomics, at TU Delft. In 2004 he was appointed Principal Scientist Microbial Genetics and Physiology at DSM Food Specialties RD&T, covering both business unit- and corporate R&D-strategy and responsibilities. 

In 2006 Han de Winde was appointed Scientific Director and full professor in Genetics and Genomics of Industrial Microorganisms at the Department of Biotechnology, TU Delft. He was business director of the Kluyver Center for Genomics of Industrial Fermentation (NWO-NGI Centre of Excellence), and scientific director of the Delft Research Centre for Life Science and Technology (DRC-LST), and of the Graduate Research School 'Biotechnological Sciences Delft-Leiden' (BSDL). Since 2010 he was deputy-dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, TU Delft, and chairman of the Executive Board of Advanced Chemical Technologies for Sustainability (ACTS), a strategic alliance of the Dutch National Science Foundation NWO. Since 2012 he is vice-chairman of the Chemistry Board of the Dutch National Science Foundation (NWO-CW).
