Minrui Ren has been a PhD student in the Schada von Borzyskowski lab since September 2022, who is always fascinated by the natural world.

Research

She is interested in enzyme engineering, and also how to combine engineered enzymes with the real world. Her research maily targets on how to modify enzymes and metabolic pathways of Alphaproteobacteria. Now, she is working on identification of alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase, which connected to her master study in Leiden university. Besides, she also tries to build ethylene glycol biosensor. Her undergraduate research was on the synthesis of 3-hydroxypropionic acid by Klebsiella pneumoniae.
