Andrea Bartolucci is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Security and Global Affairs (ISGA) at Leiden University. He teaches Researching Crisis and Security Management, Crisis Preparedness and crisis communication. He’s also the coordinator of the SSJ minor.

His researches focus on the improvement of the effectiveness of humanitarian response, relief team’s deployment, survivors’ behaviour and disaster education. Current research projects include the improvement of health communication in refugee camps, survivors’ behaviour after terrorist attacks and health care workers’ vulnerability during the COVID-19.
He has a strong international experience in humanitarian missions and exercises. In 2013, he was a member of the International Relief Mission after the Haiyan Typhoon in the Philippines for the ITA-MARCHE Emergency Medical Team. He is a WHO mentor and member of the WHO EMT CC.
