The study implemented SBL by asking student groups to produce video statements on crisis scenarios, with each group receiving both shared and unique scenario details. This structure required careful consideration of stakeholders’ perspectives as the situation evolved. The primary strength identified was the exercise’s ability to demonstrate how minor, context-specific changes can significantly affect crisis communication outcomes. Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting strong engagement and perceived value.
The lecturers observed stimulating discussions and active group interaction as students addressed these challenges. SBL was found to bridge the gap between academic theory and professional crisis communication practice, confirming earlier research that scenario-driven approaches foster the development of realistic and relatable competencies. Future iterations of the course will stagger video presentations to allow for deeper analysis and reflection.
