Prof. dr. A. Ellian is professor of Jurisprudence. He is also Deputy Academic Director of the Institute for the Interdisciplinary Study of the Law at Leiden University.

More information about Afshin Ellian

Prof. Afshin Ellian was born in Tehran (Iran), 27 February, 1966. In The Netherlands Ellian studied at Tilburg University, at that time named the Catholic University of Brabant. In 1996 he graduated in public international law, criminal law and philosophy. In 2003 he graduated as PhD at this university about Truth and Reconciliation Commission of South Africa in the framework of a political transition. In the same year Ellian became Associate Professor of Jurisprudence at Leiden University. In 2005 he became Professor of Social cohesion, citizenship and multiculturalism at the Leiden University.

He is currently Professor of Jurisprudence and Deputy Academic Director of the Institute for the Interdisciplinary Study of the Law at the Faculty of law at Leiden University. He wrote, as opinion former, columns for NRC Handelsblad and still writes for elsevier.nl. Furthermore, Ellian publicized articles in international magazines such as The Wall Street Journal and Le Figaro.
