Institute for the Interdisciplinary Study of the Law
The legal subjects have a certain jurisdiction as subject to research, such as civil law, constitutional law, criminal law and public international law.
The Institute for the Interdisciplinary Study of the Law researches from an external perspective (for example philosophy, sociology etc.). This makes legal science an 'interdisciplinary' affair.
The Institute for the Interdisciplinary Study of the Law consists of 6 departments:
- eLaw - Center for Law and Digital Technologies
- Moot Court and Advocacy & Leiden Law Practices/LLP (coaching of first year students)
- Legal History
- Philosophy of Law
- Van Vollenhoven Institute for Law, Governance and Society (VVI)
