Fulbright Scholarship for Alanna O'Malley

Alanna O'Malley has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to the United States from August 2017 to February 2018.

As a Fulbright Scholar to the Department of History at George Washington University, she will investigate the development of the United Nations in parallel with the emergence of the countries of the Global South from 1955-1981. Her research will shed new light on the role of the United States in this process, tracing the evolution of American policy towards the UN and decolonization. During her time, Alanna will give talks on this project and her forthcoming book: 'The Diplomacy of Decolonisation, America, Britain and the United Nations during the Congo crisis, 1960-1964' which is forthcoming with Manchester University Press at the end of the year.
