Book launch 'The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child’

The book 'The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child' is the result of the international academic conference – ’25 Years CRC’ – which was held in November 2014 in Leiden on the occasion of the 25th birthday of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

On the 6th of December, 2016 the Department of Child Law has launched the new scholarly book 'The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Taking Stock after 25 Years and Looking Ahead'. The book was presented to Prof. Dr. Larissa van den Herik, vice-dean and research director of Leiden Law School, and to Prof. Dr. Margrite Kalverboer, Dutch Children’s Ombudsperson.

This international publication contains 46 chapters, in which several children’s rights themes are discussed by experts from across the globe. Editors Prof. Dr Ton Liefaard and Prof. Dr. Julia Sloth-Nielsen, both connected to Leiden University, hope that the book will find its way to academics, students and professionals anywhere in the world. The book has been developed in cooperation with the Meijers Institute, Research Institute and Graduate School of Leiden Law School.
