Politics and Governance
The Politics and Governance department of the Institute of Public Administration focuses on the complex interaction between politics and governance. Our research explores contemporary issues such as the impact of global crises, populism, and polarisation at various levels of government.
Our department provides insights into politics and governance by combining theory and practice from both domestic and international perspectives, contributing to solutions for contemporary governance challenges. We focus on themes such as populism and polarisation, the interplay between politics and policy, and accountability and transparency in governance.
With a multidisciplinary approach, we collaborate with practitioners to deepen our understanding of governance. Our research examines the influence of political structures and leadership on governance, explores multi-level governance across national and international government levels—particularly within the European Union—and focuses on knowledge and policy evaluation to assess policy effectiveness.
