Research Data Management
Data management is crucial for the success of research projects.
Data management offers researchers clear advantages when it comes to creating, saving, and archiving research data. In addition, there are mandatory components that must be outlined and described before you start, based on FGGA and LU data management regulations, funder requirements, and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) covering privacy and data protection. To ensure your current and future research meets all the requirements, make sure you are well informed and familiar with them.
The mandatory Research Data Management course for PhD candidates is a good starting point and will help you understand the principles of good data management. The course aims to provide guidelines to help you manage all aspects of the digital data you collect throughout your research in accordance with university and funder requirements. You will also learn how to document these aspects in a Data Management Plan. A Data Management Plan is mandatory for almost all of your current and future research projects, so this course will be an excellent start to your PhD.
Within the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, data management support is provided by the Information Management (IM) Department. The IM Department guides you through the institute’s data management policies and assists in writing Data Management Plans. Additionally, the IM Department offers advice on personal data and privacy, agreements, knowledge security, and the safe storage and protection of your data. More information can be found on the website.
